China Baroque is a small family owned business made up of Alexanne Albert (the mom), Christie Gunter (the daughter-in-law), and Erica Calvery (the daughter). Alexanne started the company back in the mid-nineties. Artistic people had been repurposing china into jewelry for several hundred years. Alexanne came across several different versions and saw an opportunity to express her vision for the jewelry.

She understood immediately why this concept worked. Women love china, they love jewelry, and the two together are a creative force. Up until this point, the china jewelry Alex had seen, although beautiful, had been set in aluminum alloy nickel. Her vision was to use precious sterling silver and take the jewelry in a fresh new direction.

Alexanne learned how to cut and grind the plates and was off to a great start. Finding a group of silver artisans that were able to take her raw cut ceramics with their odd shapes and curves and hand set each piece in their own unique casings, proved to be challenging. She did in fact find the talent and skills needed to complete the pieces and rest fell into place.

She had always wanted to share this opportunity with her family and knew that her fashion savvy daughter-in-law Christie Gunter, and her eternally optimistic daughter Erica Calvery, would be the perfect team to lead the venture. For the past 15 years the three have worked together to build their company and have been blessed with success, a little failure, and a whole lot of priceless experience. They feel truly blessed to have come so far and say it’s because from the start they had the most loyal and encouraging customers. They say it’s their customers that continue to inspire them to keep creating and push them to go even further then they thought possible.
